Jim Bachor is making a functional and artistic statement by filling in potholes on Chicago streets with one-of-a-kind mosaics. Inspired by ancient art styles in Italy, he has filled about seven potholes with original mosaics. Bachor says the mosaics are, "Meant more as a sense of civic pride than a form of complaint against the city, as the potholes are an inevitable part of living in Chicago." The mosaics cost him about $50 each and take considerable time to install. They aren't meant to be a permanent fix, but have surely inspire a lot of smiles around the city this spring! http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2014/05/chicago-artist-mends-potholes-with-mosaics/
