One of my favourite techniques in high school art class was 'stippling.' Stippling is a technique where by tiny dots are used to create entire compositions by varying the density to create shadows and forms. French illustrator Xavier Casalta's skills at this technique are incredible, especially the beautiful typographical pieces. http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2014/03/stippled-typography-casalta-xavier/
